An opportunity has arisen in Bristol Physiotherapy and Exercise Team for a skilled Band 6 (or experienced Band 5) physiotherapist to work within an inpatient setting for mental health services.
The Physiotherapy and Exercise Team is a multi-professional mental health team that works alongside a range of allied health professionals and therapists.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, has a broad range of knowledge and skills and is either experienced in working with people who have mental health needs or is open to learning about working in this highly rewarding setting. Within this role there is flexibility of working hours, and you will also benefit a manageable caseload size to allow engagement in CPD and training opportunities.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Physiotherapy team for Mental Health within various settings as part of an integrated service.
To offer specialist physiotherapy assessments and interventions within various settings both ward based and community, following the integrated care programme plan, liaising with all appropriate parties particularly the Care Co-ordinator
To be involved in education both of student physiotherapists and other personnel.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist physiotherapy interventions for patients with mental health problems, individually and in groups, both in hospital and in the community.
To keep patient clinical records and statistics as per trust and professional
guidelines with the use of information technology.
To work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with other health care
professionals, patients and their families.
To ensure that the physiotherapy technician receives adequate training,
supervision and support and that the delegation of tasks is appropriate to his/her abilities and grade.
To be responsible for education and supervision of physiotherapy students.
To adhere to Chartered Society of Physiotherapy standards of physiotherapy practice.
To develop and maintain clinical skill and mandatory training through a variety of learning opportunities and provide evidence of clinical competence through the development and maintenance of a personal professional portfolio.
To work in accordance with professional and Trust policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the law.
To care for own health & safety as well as that of patients and other members of staff.
To undertake small projects to support the physiotherapy service i.e. audit
research.
To help develop the service and attend relevant meetings.

Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- Member of the Health Profession Council
- 2 years post registration experience
- An understanding of multi professional team working and an ability to promote the role of the Physiotherapist within that.
- Ability to demonstrate the application of physiotherapeutic interventions in a variety of settings.
- Ability to contribute effectively to the strategic development of services.
- Able to work independently.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in mental health
- Experience of working with clients in community settings

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
