We are looking for a suitably qualified, high performing HCPC registered Physiotherapist to take on the role of Team leader /Clinical Specialist in MSK . This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and clinical skills in the MSK Specialty. This post will be based at Barbara Castle Way Health Center Blackburn ,but all staff are expected to work on any of our sites across East Lancashire if service requires.
To operationally manage the team at BCW
To provide specialist care to patients with MSK conditions and to act as the clinical expert for MSK disorders, advancing clinical practice in this area of work.
To balance the team leader and clinical specialist aspects of the post as appropriate and as agreed with the physiotherapy manager. Clinical specialists working within clinical teams are responsible to the designated team leaders of those teams
Main duties of the job
Working as an autonomous clinician and as a leader within the IMPReS team you will be responsible for the day to day management of the team, ensuring HR , Governance and performance of the team is maintained.
As a clinical specialist you will be responsible for assessing complex patients, discussing patient agreed goals and expectations, delivering highly skilled treatments and providing education for patients, .
Responsible for all aspects of Governance within the team, using appropriate delegation and monitoring.
Responsible for to supervising and training more junior health care professionals.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to consolidate both leadership and clinical skills , and will ensure the operational management of the team as well as maintaining the clinical specialist MSK role.
They must also be able to demonstrate proven leadership skills, flexibility, good time management skills, organisational skills, and evidence of self-motivation.
They must also be able to demonstrate evidence of recent learning and examples of continued professional and clinical development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES
- Be responsible for a designated area of work. Plan and organise effectively and effectively with regard to prioritisation and time management.
- Agree priorities for own work area and that of relevant staff balancing other patient lead and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the section as a whole.
- Lead or participate in relevant working groups in line with departmental requirements.
- Ensure that staff for whom you are responsible are supported and enabled to implement policy and service development changes.
- Work with the Physiotherapy Manager and in developing the strategic and operational management of relevant clinical area, and contribute to the business planning process through identification of relevant issues within your speciality area.
- Co-ordinate and produce reports as required, ensuring these are of a sufficient standard.
- Be actively involved in assuring the collection, collation and reporting of appropriate data and statistics for the department, including the production of Key Performance Indicators.
- Be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including your prompt recording and reporting of incidents and ensuring equipment use is safe.
- Demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of all relevant organisational and departmental policies and procedures and be involved in their development and review as appropriate.
- Work flexibly to support equity of physiotherapy provision across the wider service.
- Provide cover for band 7 colleagues as required in line with need of the wider physiotherapy service.
- Undertake any other duties considered appropriate by the physiotherapy management team.
- Undertake an advanced specialist assessment of patients, provide a diagnosis, formulate an accurate prognosis, discuss treatment options and agree a goal orientated individual treatment programme, with the patient’s informed consent.
- Undertake highly skilled and clinically advanced procedures and interventions within the scope of physiotherapy practice.
- Provide clinical leadership for staff including implementing “in-service development” within area of specialty.
- Assist in the co-ordination of student placements within the Physiotherapy Department in liaison with the Clinical Facilitator and the relevant Team Administrator (Co-ordinator). You may be required to allow a student to observe your working practices as a small part of their placement.
- Be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment utilised in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

- Diploma/Degree level in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification
- Health and Care Professionals Council Registration

- Membership of the Charted Society of Physiotherapy
