Job overview

The Business Intelligence Team ensures the efficient and effective gathering of robust performance management information across the company and assists managers to use this information to inform their practice. The team ensures that all statutory and contractual performance reporting is provided both within the company and for stakeholders including commissioners. This team supports managers in ensuring they understand their performance reports and can use them to improve service performance and service user outcomes.

The provision of management information to Directors and Corporate managers to allow them to monitor budgets and drive strategic objectives will also become a key function of the service over time.

Main duties of the job

  • Support performance improvement across the company and be the key BI point of contact for service managers.  
  • Specialise in understanding service delivery to provide service managers with accurate and informative data.  
  • Lead on deep-dive analyses into issues, utilising technical and presentation skills, to deliver insights to support recommendations and decision making.
  • Ensure reports, presentations and other communications are targeted to meet the needs of relevant audiences. 
  • Lead the way in the standardisation of data collection practices across Sirona BNSSG services. 
  • Champion data quality, empowering teams to make their own improvements, through the use of data quality dashboards.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Support and deputise for the Lead BI Business Partner
  • Support the contract performance managers to ensure the contract as a whole is delivered effectively, efficiently and in line with the performance and quality standards in the contract
  • Investigate performance issues and/or non-compliance identified through the contract compliance monitoring process, bringing these to the attention of the contract manager as necessary
  • Contribute to the development of key performance metrics
  • Assurance reporting including commentary
  • Work with the Analysts to provide a comprehensive and high quality performance management service to the organisation, and externally across a range of organisations
  • Review and assist design of EMIS/EPR templates to ensure reporting capabilities are maintained
  • Lead on the design, development and validation of analytical solutions (e.g. PowerBI dashboards) to enable self-service analytics for corporate and operational users
  • To be the key BI point of contact for allocated service managers , liaising with them regarding performance queries, developments and problem solving
  • Support and recommend areas for service improvement and innovation
  • Establish effective working relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation.  Work effectively with them to determine their data analysis requirements and to develop plans to meet those needs
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding performance management
  • Capacity planning, service modelling and benchmarking
  • Create and develop service recovery plans.  Support strategic planning for services that are undergoing significant change
  • Promote ownership of data within operational teams, advocating the importance of performance measurement and data quality,
  • Identify and support resolution of data quality issues through liaison with operational teams and developing/monitoring data quality dashboards
  • Provide training on performance management techniques, analytical solutions (e.g. Power BI) and Excel
  • Ad hoc analysis and presentation of complex data sets within excel
  • Lead on deep-dive analyses into issues, utilising technical and presentation skills, to deliver insights to support recommendations and decision making
  • Create and maintain effective team working and motivate others

  • Current experience of working in a healthcare setting, demonstrating good understanding of service user care pathways, preferably in the Community using EMIS/EPR
  • Excellent IT literacy including knowledge of analytical solutions (e.g. Power BI), and advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to train stakeholders to use analytical solutions and performance management techniques
