Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for one  Band 4 technical instructor to join the Posture and Mobility Service. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our team on a permanent contract.

The post holder will provide practical support to registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist to facilitate the provision of wheelchairs and associated equipment to clients referred to Posture and mobility wheelchair service. The service covers a wide geographical area in north Wales, satellite working covers Wrexham, Flint-shire, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey, Ceredigion and Powys and the Health, Social Services, Education and private establishments within these areas. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical, technical and administrative staff.

Main duties of the job

The key objectives of the post are:

  • To support the Therapists in the assessment, organisation, implementation, and evaluation of therapy and multi-disciplinary team interventions.
  • Be responsible for assessment of the client’s equipment needs to determine whether equipment is still required, if so safe for use, no longer needed or requires referral for new provision.
  • To assess client’s wheelchair skills/techniques, carry out practice and training to encourage independence, including individual indoor/outdoor powered training sessions and testing in a varied environment for clients that have a powered wheelchair.
  • Assist clients before, during and following review ensuring their safety, comfort, privacy and dignity.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
