Healthy Child Practitioner

NHS AfC: Band 4

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust believes in fairness, equity and above all values diversity in all aspects of its work, as a provider of health services and as an employer of people. We provide visa sponsorship to applicant who require a visa to work in the UK, providing the role you’ve been recruited to meets the requirements set by the Home Office.

From 4 April 2024 overseas workers requiring a general Skilled Worker Visa (such as data analysts, IT and finance professionals, etc) but sponsored by an NHS organisation will need to meet the new salary threshold of £38,700. In addition, applications to the Health and Care Visa route for those occupations paid by NHS bands that are on the immigration salary, a list of skilled jobs which have lower salary requirements, will need to meet the national pay scale for their role or the new minimum salary threshold of £23,200 (whichever is higher). We advise that you check that the role you wish to apply for meets the requirement for sponsorship before applying.

Job overview

The Shropshire School Nursing Service covers from Oswestry to Ludlow and Bridgnorth to Market Drayton and Whitchurch.  Although we cover a large rural area, we are a close, friendly, respectful and supportive team.  We are looking for motivated, innovative applicants to join our expanding team.

The Children, Young People and their families are at the heart of everything we do.  If you are client-focused, with a strong sense of advocacy and a belief in equitable services, we would love to hear from you!  Our practitioners are autonomous and we welcome applications from individuals who would describe themselves as independent, confident and committed to deliver a quality service.

We are advertising for a Healthy Child Practitioner to cover a caseload in Whitchurch.  We are a 9-5, Monday – Friday service and are committed to working flexibly.

If you would like to discuss any of our current opportunities, please contact: Kat Sealey on 07964 134121.

Please note this vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received, we advise you submit your application early to avoid disappointment.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from people with extensive experience working with children, young people and their families, you must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.

The post involved travelling around the county and would best suit a car driver with access to a vehicle that can be used for work.

Our Healthy Child Practitioners work closely with support workers, staff nurses and specialist public health nurses to provide health education and promotion to children, young people and their families.  The role requires you to communicate well with different ages groups and provide consistent public Health information and signposting to our clients.  We also work closely with vulnerable families and individuals as well as with a wide multi-agency team of professionals.

More information about the role is available by researching the Healthy Child Programme.
