Head of Transformation & Improvement Hub

Do you enjoy making a difference and leading improvements? This job is an excellent opportunity to transform services for and with patients, their families and the staff who provide care every day. You will be at the heart of our lean based, Improving Together management system at an exciting time as we move into our third year of deployment.

You will be a leader who is passionate about supporting others and delivering transformation and change well. You will be skilled in programme and change management and have a track record of leading and delivering demonstrable large scale change. You will be an inspiring leader will a coaching and collaborative style.

Your will lead a team of project and programme practitioners who are motivated to make a difference and support a wide ranging portfolio of transformation. You will be a subject matter expert in transformation and help lead a centre of excellence which trains and coaches teams Trust wide. You will be passionate about empowering others and able to set high standards for our work. In return you will have a diverse scope of work in which you can make a material difference and be supported to learn, develop and thrive. 

As a Foundation Trust, the Great Western Hospitals services a population in excess of 300,000, providing Acute and Community Services.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

This is a high profile post integral to the success of the organisation. The post holder will work at a high level in the organisation demonstrating credibility with Trust Directors, the Senior Management Team, Clinical and frontline teams as well as with external bodies including system partners and regulators. The post holder will support the Deputy Director of Improvement who is responsible for the overall delivery of the ‘Improving Together’ approach and a range of improvement programmes to drive efficiency, productivity and quality within the organisation.

The post holder has the following key areas of responsibility:

  • To provide strategic and operational leadership to drive the delivery of transformational change programmes that enable the Trust to achieve our vision. 
  • To be accountable for the governance and development, monitoring and oversight of the transformational and change management elements of the Trust’s Improvement and Efficiency programmes, ensuring both a short and medium term savings programme is properly planned, implemented and monitored. 
  • To be an exemplary ambassador for our Improving Together approach (the Trust’s approach to improvement) leading on elements of the Operational Management System and supporting the overall success of our implementation roadmap.

To provide management and leadership of the Transformation & Improvement Hub including the leadership of our programme management office to develop and maintain a balanced and resourced portfolio of transformation aligned to our strategic priorities. This includes leading delivery of cross divisional transformation projects and programmes. The team supports transformation and improvements across all trust departments with out partnership in Swindon and across the Acute Hospital Alliance and Integrated Care System.

  • Project/Programme Management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2, MSP or equivalent
  • Evidence of on-going development and continuous learning
  • Evidence of awareness of improvement approaches and their application
  • Post-graduate Masters level qualification in relevant professional field

  • Improvement qualification e.g. QSIR or lean accreditation
  • General Management qualification

Experience

  • Proven track record at a senior level within a health or care environment.
  • Demonstrate experience in driving large-scale change that has involved managing people, technology and process
  • Able to work at senior level both within GWH and ICS
  • Experience of the delivery of cost improvement programmes within a complex organisation
  • Experience of delivering cross organisational change and improvement
  • Experience of working with Executive teams and boards
  • Able to provide concise clear reports and present at Board and executive committee level
  • Working in complex cultural environments and have examples of how to improve ways of working between teams
  • Able to show experience in creating and maintaining highly performing teams
