Senior Midwifery Manager – Delivery Suite 37.5 hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional, committed, and motivated midwife for the post of Senior Midwifery manager within our Delivery Suite. The individual will work closely with the Matron, Delivery Suite Coordinators, and Medical Colleagues to influence a positive safety culture to ensure that excellent care is provided to the women, birthing people and their families. The individual must have a strong commitment to intrapartum midwifery practice, safety, and have excellent organisational and communication skills. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to a team which includes midwives and maternity support workers; ensuring the team philosophy promotes and reflects optimal standards of care for pregnant women and their families.

  • Maintain portfolio and PREPP requirements
  • ALSO/PROMPT course or equivalent experience
  • Mentorship/preceptorship trained

Knowledge and Skills

  • Substantial midwifery experience including Intrapartum care in a high risk environment.  Recent experience of leading a team  Knowledge of midwifery issues in the wider content of the NHS  Knowledge of statutory supervision  Evidence of up to date current midwifery skills and competencies including perineal suturing, cannulation, intravenous medications and care of epidural, PCA, scrub midwife role  Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and co-ordinate a multidisciplinary team to do the same.  Leadership and team building skills  Ability to constantly apply analytical skills to practice.  Working knowledge of clinical governance and its effect on care  Ability to effectively manage complaints  Ability to manage resources effectively  An ability to manage staff effectively including absence and appraisals and performance  Ability to recognise and appropriately manage conflict

  • NIPE ( Examination of the Newborn ) training and competence.  The ability to write clear and concise reports.  The ability to prepare and deliver presentations to a group of people.  The ability to teach one to one and in group settings.  Ability to communicate complex or sensitive information about wellbeing to anxious patients and relatives.  The ability to support clients and staff sensitively following pregnancy loss.  ALSO or PROMPT or equivalent Obstetric emergency training .  Obstetric emergency facilitation of training.  NLS training
