This event is taking place in our Academy, Lower Ground Floor at the Great Western Hospital, Marlborough Road, SN3 6BB between 10am - 2pm on the 28th September 2024. With the thrilling launch of our new Childrens Emergency Unit (CEU) in September 2024 and our paediatric rotation our Paediatric and Paediatric Emergency Team’s are seeking registered band 5 and 6 Paediatric Nurses to join us.
This unique event will give you the opportunity to meet team members representing both our Childrens Unit and Paediatric Emergency department who are eager to share more on the services we proudly offer!

 The Event will include:

  •         Welcome Presentation & Question and Answer Session
  •        Team Meet and Greet/Career Talk
  •         Ward/Unit Guided Tour (Children’s Unit/ Paediatric Emergency Department
  •        Interview (Subject to Availability)

Panel Interview slots are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Relevant NMC UK registration required or working towards degree as a 3rd year student. We are looking for dynamic, motivated, and dedicated Childrens Nurses who will be working with an amazing multidisciplinary team, including youth workers, mental health teams, safeguarding nurses and Paediatric Emergency physicians. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team assisting in providing high quality paediatric care and excellent patient experience.

 The post holder will be responsible for providing safe and effective care to all children (aged 0 – 18) requiring admission on the Children’s Unit/Paediatric Assessment Unit or Emergency Department with a variety of medical and surgical conditions.

 You are also responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role. The post holder will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes, assessment and implementation of care.

 We will support you in developing your clinical skills and competencies with our experienced team of paediatric nurses and clinical practice facilitators, with a variety of inhouse courses such as plastering, cannulation and opportunity for EPALS. We believe in supporting our staff to grow and develop to fulfil their potential

With our new Childrens Emergency Unit (CEU) launching in September 2024, our Emergency front door being transformed and the introduction of a rotational nurse post between our Children’s Unit and Children’s Emergency unit, it is an extraordinary time to join the Paediatric team.

 Our CEU is a brand-new concept that will form part of the paediatric assessment unit and Urgent Treatment Centre with 16 cubicles and will have its own Paediatric resus and two dedicated high acuity cubicles.

 This extremely unique opportunity for either a rotational or static post and our ongoing service developments we will provide exciting learning opportunities for successful candidates. 1.     Plan, deliver and evaluate compassionate nursing care to meet the patient’s individualised needs.

2.     Ensure the highest standards of care and safety are maintained.

3.     To support the nurse in charge with the day-to-day planning, the delivery of a high-quality nursing service and the continuous improvement of that service.

4.     SBAR multidisciplinary team on the clinical condition of patients using the PEW’s (Paediatric Early Warning Scores).

5.     Co-ordinate the effective admission, transfer and discharge of individual children in line with Trust policy.

6.     Act as advocate for the children in their care and ensure the voice of the child is heard.

7.     Adhere to the Trust’s safeguarding policies and procedures and ensure that know and practice enables children to be safeguarded.

Qualifications

  • Current/Live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Safeguarding Children training.

  • Mentorship/Supervision course
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development or other training relevant to role

Experience

  • Recent experience of nursing children in acute/community setting or recently completed a Return to Nursing course
  • Able to demonstrate effective consolidation of nursing knowledge and practice after qualification and preceptorship
  • Experience of working withing a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Post-registration experience of Children’s Emergency or Acute Paediatric care.

Knowledge

  • Good team member, able to complement group dynamics and work autonomously.
