As part of this we’re looking for an inspirational Band 7 PACU Lead who possesses the necessary skills and experience to lead, develop and futureproof the Trust’s existing PACU team.
Not only will the post holder be a clinical expert in post anaesthetic care, but they will also display a passion for teaching and will use these skills daily to facilitate staff development, staff satisfaction and excellent patient care
Service modernisation is critical to the department’s future aspiration and the post holder will be supported to deliver change by the Theatre Leadership Team (currently Lead Clinician, Head of Theatre Services and two Theatre Matrons) and a network of peer colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide direction and inspirational leadership to the PACU team and will possess the necessary skills to motivate, encourage and facilitate change where needed. Such actions will prioritise the delivery of high-quality patient centred care.
As the PACU team lead you will seek out improvement opportunities at all times and empower your team to consider new and innovative ways of working. You will encourage service development and support an agenda of continual improvement to the benefit of both the staff and patient experience.
You will be aware of the national theatre landscape and through horizon scanning will be suitably placed to drive forward the Trust’s exciting modernisation plans. You will do this in a way that engages all staff and continually reinforces the Trust’s values and beliefs.

Essential criteria
- HCPC registered ODP / NMC Registered Nurse.
- Degree level education or demonstrable relevant experience
Desirable criteria
- Working towards a master’s degree in a relevant subject.
- Teaching and assessing qualification
Relevant Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ senior clinical experience at Band 6 level within a PACU
- Excellent level of clinical skills
- A proven track record in delivering change and service improvement.
- Knowledge of current National improvement strategies pertinent to the theatre environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of strategic service planning including workforce development
