Sexual Health Nurse - Band 5

Band 5

Job overview

The Department of Sexual Health based at Salisbury District Hospital is looking to recruit a part-time Band 5 Sexual Health Nurse.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our established team as we continue to grow and develop, offering a county-wide integrated sexual health service.

Training and support will be offered to the successful candidate as they are supported through a competency based framework, working towards an autonomous Specialist Sexual Health Nurse role.

Previous experience of health promotion, nurse led clinics and autonomous practice would be an advantage.

Based at the Department of Sexual Health,  having successfully completed relevant competencies, there is an expectation that the successful applicant would have the capability to undertake clinic work across community satellite services, providing cover and working flexibly with colleagues.

Main duties of the job

Manage yourself, your practice and that of others in accordance with the NMC code of professional standards, performance and ethics recognising your abilities and limitations.   You will demonstrate effective leadership skills at all times and have the courage to challenge performance, practice, attitudes and behaviours that breach the principles of the Trust values and beliefs, Trust policies and the NMC Code of Conduct and know how to escalate any concerns to your senior nurse/manager.

To practise in accordance with an ethical and legal framework which ensures the privacy of patient interest and well-being and respects confidentiality.  To practise in a fair and anti-discriminatory way, acknowledging the differences in beliefs and cultural practices of individuals or groups and to engage in, develop and disengage from therapeutic relationships through the use of appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

We have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service.  We think working here is pretty rewarding.  You can access a range of NHS discounts, receive a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme. On-site benefits include car parking (fee applies), leisure centre, day nursery and holiday play scheme.
