Job overview

We're looking for a motivated, engaged and driven project manager to join our team to make a real difference to our cancer waiting times and make improvements to treatment variation within the Medicine Division.

This role will have a direct impact on  improving outcomes and experience of care for our patients, so we're looking for someone who can put the patient at the heat of everything they do.

If you're an experienced project manager who can manage and deliver complex projects, we'd like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The Cancer Performance & Improvement Manager will work closely with colleagues in the Medicine Division, as well as collaboratively across divisions, specialties and the Cancer Services Team to support sustainable delivery of cancer waiting time targets.

This role will support identification of root causes, collation of action plans in conjunction with MDTs and implementation of initiatives to support the division. This role will support several projects relating to cancer waiting time performance and treatment variation, with particular focus on:

  • Outpatient clinic utilisation
  • Chair utilisation
  • Demand & capacity planning
  • Lung cancer and oncology pathway mapping
  • Delivery against the main GIRFT metrics around treatment variation

We have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service.  We think working here is pretty rewarding.  You can access a range of NHS discounts, receive a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
