Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Possession, or within 6 months of possession, of a CCT in Plastic Surgery leading to entry onto GMC Specialist Register.
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.

Experience

Essential criteria

Evidence of wide experience and a high level of competence in: Breast reconstruction surgery including micro-surgical techniques.
Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems: demonstrates clear, logical thinking/analytical approach.
Experience in managing skin cancer including melanoma, sentinel node biopsies and nodal dissection.
Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence based practice.

Management experience

Essential criteria

Ability to perform effectively as a member of a team, including a multidisciplinary team and to motivate and develop staff.
Ability and willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance targets.
Ability to balance individual requirements against those of the department / Directorate.
Commitment to active clinical governance and learning from errors.

Communication skills

Essential criteria

Demonstrates clarity in written communication.
Always considers patients preferences when discussing treatment options.

Teaching, Audit & Research

Demonstration of an interest and commitment to teaching.
