Job overview

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Data and Informatics team as a Data Warehouse Developer.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to help maintain and develop the Trust Data Warehouse and BI architecture including performance, maintainability and scalability along with a secure, governed and well architected data infrastructure.

This role will support users both within the department and to other departments around the Trust in the following key areas:

  • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
  • Data Warehousing Architectures
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • PostgreSQL

To be successful in this role you will have a real eye for detail, an analytical mind-set, excellent communication skills and a willingness to adapt your approach with our stakeholders and interpret requirements with the enthusiasm to get the job done to the highest standards.

Experience of working with NHS data is highly desirable but candidates without a previous NHS background will be considered provided they can demonstrate  technical proficiency in the above toolsets.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • The post holder must be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, or have an equivalent level of experience in a similar field.
Desirable criteria
  • Further education level qualification in Information Technology, Informatics or similar.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a Data Warehouse environment in a large organisation.
  • Development experience with SQL (including T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS & SSAS), or PostgreSQL
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in an Information Department within the NHS
  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI Architecture & report development

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of either Microsoft SQL server, including T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS & SSAS or PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to discuss complex technical and business process issues in terms appropriate to technical and non-technical.
Desirable criteria
  • Clear understanding of NHS patient activity information, statutory data requirements, data definitions and performance measures
  • Knowledge of NHS datasets and specialised coding structures (eg CDS, OPCS4, ICD10, HRG)
