Job overview

Are you keen to work in a friendly and supportive department in a hospital setting? An exciting opportunity has opened for a receptionist to join our clinical psychology (health) department here at Salisbury District Hospital. This is a great time to join our team, as we expand our clinical space, welcome other new staff into the department, and pilot a new assessment clinic model.

Our clinical psychology department is made up of 13 psychologists and psychological therapists, alongside our admin lead and receptionist. We are also a popular placement for clinical psychology training courses, hosting several trainees on a regular basis. The team culture is such that we value every member of the team and their contribution, and work as one, viewing our admin and reception staff as of equal importance to our clinicians in the overall day-to-day functioning of the department.

We are seeking a friendly, committed, and hard-working receptionist to support us in ensuring effective functioning of the department, maintain a high-quality experience for the patients and families we see, and enable us to capture the activity and added value the department brings to the lives of patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

This post with be the welcoming face of the department and first point of contact to patients and professionals

All receptionist duties which will include answering the main departmental telephone and responding to enquiries in an appropriate and sensitive manner, and communicate information to departmental staff, ensuring that in their absence, appropriate action is taken.

The post holder is required to provide administrative support, under the guidance of the Admin Lead, to the Department of Clinical Psychology (Health) at Salisbury District Hospital.  The job includes providing secretarial services, liaising with staff and patients, and maintaining records.  The post holder will be expected to work independently and use their own initiative.  Their work will be managed with goals agreed and reviewed regularly. 

Further duties include maintaining clinician diaries on outlook, photocopying, filing discharge records and maintaining the departmental filing system, setting up appointments and typing appointment letters and  outcoming all appointments.   

The post holder will be working in an environment where they will be exposed to sensitive information, and on occasion distressed patients and families.
