Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled Mortuary and Bereavement Manager to join the Mortuary and Bereavement service at Salisbury District Hospital.
The Mortuary and Bereavement service sits within the Pathology Department and works closely with the
Histopathology service.
As a Band 7 manager you will hold a relevant health sciences degree (or equivalent) have current registration with
the AAPT with extensive experience within the mortuary or histology environment. An MSc (or equivalent) or a
willingness to work towards one, in a relevant scientific subject, is desirable. You will have proven scientific,
technical and communication skills in association with a commitment to training, quality management, continuous
professional development, health & safety and audit. The successful candidate must be quality driven and have a
good understanding of how to deliver a service that meets the HTA and ISO 15189:2012 standards.
You will be joining our friendly team to assist and provide leadership, strategy and day to day support to the Mortuary and Bereavement team. You will work closely with the Pathology and Laboratory Management Team to ensure that the high quality service is maintained and bring ideas from your extensive experience to help shape the
future of the service. Good communication, interpersonal skills and a commitment to team working are essential.

Main duties of the job

The department is HTA licensed and approved for training. Personal development, CPD, and attendance at meetings, both internal and external, are all actively encouraged.
The role will involve day to day supervision and organisation of the mortuary and bereavement services to ensure turn-around times are achieved and provide excellent service delivery. The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the service and report directly to the Head of Pathology.
