Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Educator roles has arisen across the YAS Academy sites.

To enable us to meet the future needs for our services we are seeking innovative and strategic thinkers who have excellent leadership skills to take on the role of Clinical Educator in the YAS Academy.

The post requires an individual who has ideally had previous experience in delivering education and has strong organisational skills and a good knowledge of best practice in the educational environment.

The assessment process will include a competency-based interview and a presentation.

Main duties of the job

This Clinical Educator will deliver a range of clinical education across the different staff grades from support tier up to the level of Paramedic. The role will also be responsible for delivery on the ASW, AAP and Paramedic Apprenticeship programmes. They may also be expected deliver on HEI programmes in conjunction with our HEI partners.

The role will be pinnacle to the delivery of the Trusts Apprenticeship programmes and be responsible for the ongoing development and support of the students as they progress through their career pathway.

Reporting to the Lead Clinical Educator, the successful applicants will work within the Academy team and should also be confident in working independently. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to their own CPD and development and be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

They should inspire people to want to expand their educational horizons and be able to provide educational advice, guidance, support, and direction. Ideally the applicant should have been active in education and training either within an Ambulance Service or in an educational role with an educational provider. They should demonstrate an understanding of the complexities in the day-to-day issues within an educational environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative, as is a real enthusiasm for delivering quality learning and development to others, in addition to the ability to coach students in a fast-paced environment.

The positions could be based at the following Academy sites, Burn Hall, Elm Bank, Walnut Lodge. However applicants must be willing to travel across the whole YAS region as and when required and adopt a flexible approach to their working arrangement.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in Paramedic Science or equivalent, relevant study
  • Qualified Paramedic (HCPC Registered)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • PGCE or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years’ experience in a Paramedic role
  • Experience of delivering learning
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading, education programmes desirable
