This is a strategic professional and clinical leadership role operating at a senior level in the Trust. The post holder will possess a highly developed specialist clinical knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience acquired through a degree in paramedic science (or equivalent), supplemented by specialist clinical, educational, or leadership training to masters or equivalent experience. They will be accountable for the direct development and delivery of clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the highest clinical standards, ensuring best practice evidence is used to inform practice.

Playing a lead role in developing and maintaining clinical practice standards in all cases of undifferentiated emergency care, the post holder will have specific responsibility for developing and implementing improvements in resuscitation, paediatrics, maternity, and trauma care, working closely with other professional and service leads. They will foster a culture of clinical excellence, developing and assuring clinical standards across all allied health profession service lines. The post holder will be accountable for clinical practice standards and guidelines across all service lines for paramedic and non-registered staff.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The post holder will ensure pre and post-registration career pathways are clinically effective and represent effective talent management, supporting the Trust to be the employer of choice. Working closely with YAS Academy and partner HEIs to develop and assure education processes that meet statutory, regulatory, and clinical best practice standards. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective preceptorship, mentorship and clinical supervision arrangements exist for paramedics and non-registered clinicians, through the clinical supervision programme and the newly qualified paramedic programme, providing assurance that the Trust processes comply with existing national frameworks. Working closely with other service leads and a range of internal and external stakeholders, the post holder will develop and implement the clinical workforce strategy, ensuring a workforce that is prepared and equipped to provide clinical excellence and improved patient experience and outcomes.

Knowledge

  • Paramedic Registered with the HCPC
  • Relevant degree (Paramedic, Health)
  • Holds a relevant Master’s Degree or currently working towards
  • Expert understanding of current clinical practice guidelines, evidence and policies relating to the out of hospital arena.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of educational programmes, learning and CPD
