Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our clinical skills and resuscitation team and services.

The post holder will be clinically qualified expert in resuscitation and education practice, with the ability to manage a team of people. The role provides leadership within medical education practice and is a key part of our provision for patients, learners, and wider colleagues. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

 

1.       Promote the NHS and the Trust as an excellent place to learn and develop clinical skills to care for patients.

2.       Undertake the day to day management of the Clinical Skills Centre including the line management of relevant staff, management of the Centre as a facility and acting as budget holder.

 

3.       Manage, facilitate and participate in the delivery of clinical skills training (technical and/or non-technical) predominantly to undergraduate medical students, junior doctors and other clinical staff groups where the subject matter is also relevant for medical staff.

4.       Contribute to the pastoral support networks for work experience students, medical students and junior doctors.

5.       Ensure the Trust provides a comprehensive evidenced based resuscitation services under the direction of the Trust Resuscitation Lead.

6.       Support the development of human factors and simulation based training under the direction of the Trust Human Factors & Simulation Lead.

7.       Be a key member of the Education Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Medical Education governance arrangements to provide assurance about the planning, delivery and quality of education and training provision.

 

8.       Deputise for the General Manager (MDU) and consultants in medical education leadership roles as appropriate and when commensurate with the role.
