Our Housekeepers are part of the Catering Team within AGH Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and we are now looking for caring, committed, and flexible colleagues to join our current ward based housekeeping team.
The role of Housekeeper is challenging, but very rewarding, and one where you are in the enviable position of being able to take time to speak with our patients, and help with their recovery by offering our hydration and nutritional offering to them. Full Training will be given, including Allergen training, and on all of our meals, there may even be some food tasting……
Our Housekeepers, help keep the ward clean and tidy in line with the National Cleaning Standards, record fridge temperatures, collate patient meal orders via an iPad, deliver patient meals, and drink services, assisting patients with meal ordering and dietary requirements, Working a part of a team is paramount in this role, but be prepared for busy days, and rewarding days in this role.
Please be aware that our Housekeepers hours are between 0700-2000 7 days a week, 365 days a year, typical shifts are 0700-1330, and 1600-2000, although our shifts do differ due to the service area so flexibility is key.
Main duties of the job
To provide a Housekeeping Service
The aim of the role is to provide a clean and safe environment for our patients, staff and visitors and to contribute to preventing and reducing the spread of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs).
To communicate effectively with patients, including patients who may have behavioural issues, challenging behaviour or severe communication difficulties work colleagues and visitors throughout the process of delivery of the service and at all times respecting dignity and confidentiality.

Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Food safety course level 1
- Relevant NVQ Level 2
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience working with the public/customers
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working in a hospital/healthcare/care home environment
- Previous experience of complying with Health and Safety regulations

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
