We provide a wide range of services from traditional facilities management and estate maintenance, to sterile services, wheelchair engineering and procurement, to clients both within and beyond the NHS.

We are now recruiting for an Head of Catering  –this role is a multifunctional role, and will cover the Patient Meal Service ,Hostess, Housekeeping & Retail Services, leading and managing a team of over 100 colleagues to ensure the highest standards of service are given to our patients, service users and colleagues,.

 Our Catering Team which  won Team of the Year, is passionate about our patients experience, and developing our service to meet the needs of our patients, colleagues and service users, but also that we work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, building upon the trusts foundations and right care values.

Informal visits to the department are encouraged.

To facilitate an efficient and effective catering service for staff and visitors to Airedale General Hospital. This role will be responsible for all catering operations and will have direct operational responsibility for the catering teams including budgetary responsibility. The post holder will also have responsibility for policy implementation and service development.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent management experience
  • Management/professional qualification or extensive experience at a senior level in Catering management
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
  • Food Safety Level 4
  • Further post graduate qualification in catering/facilities management or sufficient experience gained in practice to equate to this level of training.

  • Evidence of postgraduate

Experience

  • Extensive experience of Catering management, significant senior management level experience
  • Direct line management experience of large-scale multi-site operations with a diverse workforce of 50+ personnel
  • Experience of managing managers
  • Experience of business planning and with well- developed report and business case writing skills. Ability to draw up action plans and ensure that deadlines are met in compliance with overall strategy.
  • Evidence of sound appreciation and achievement in management of financial targets and budgetary management
  • Experience of successfully managing significant budgets and delivering against financial targets.
  • Evidence of excellent innovation and achievement in management practice.
  • Operational/business planning and business management experience.

  • Evidence of successful involvement in production of clear business cases.
  • Project management techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering change and performance in complex environments.
  • Extensive experience within the NHS or health- related field.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of NHS Catering agenda in respect of facilities and/or an up-to-date knowledge and awareness of key issues in Catering management.
  • Understanding of essential aspects of customer services in Catering
  • Good understanding of legislation governing the provision of Catering services and the ability to translate this into practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Hospital Food Standards and the BDA Nutrition & Hydration
  • Professional leadership
  • Knowledge of Human Resources
  • Management and excellent staff management skills
  • Commercial experience gained in the management of outsourced contracts in a healthcare setting.
