The Deputy Director of Equipping is responsible for providing Equipment expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Transformation Directorate and across the whole New Hospital Programme. The post holder will be working with key stakeholders, the Trusts in the programme and team members to co-produce standards, tools and guides as well as implementing and assuring standards, to ensure safer hospitals are delivered for the NHS.
The post holder will have responsibility for supporting the strategic and operational development of the specialist knowledge within the programme. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.

Key aspects of this role will be to: -

Responsible for the Equipment strategy development, and delivery of it into the programme and the Trusts, ensuring it is understood by all stakeholders, and is delivered utilising all available resources efficiently and effectively.

Ensure appropriate system and processes are in place to enable the implementation of the strategy plans in the new organisations.

Proactively manage the key risks and issues associated with ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.

Monitoring and establishing accountability on the overall progress of the strategy to ensure adoption across the Programme, the Trusts, and the relevant teams within the wider NHSE.

Manage and actively promote the relationships with key stakeholders.

Develop and implement systems and processes to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate, and the wider NHS organisations as appropriate.

Implement appropriate governance to create and manage a high performing team to help deliver a range of outputs, ensuring the necessary capacity and capability are in place. Support and mentor this team, building in a culture of ongoing reflection and improvement.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

- • Educated to master’s level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
Knowledge and Experience

- Has worked within a senior position in a support team for new NHS hospital build programmes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience at a senior level within an acute hospital setting.
- Have experience of a leadership role within a new hospital build programme, guiding teams and providing expert equipment knowledge through build and commissioning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of equipping, minimising risk in the built environment.

- Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
- Evidence of planning and delivering programmes and projects and services on time.
