Job overview

The post holder will support the coordination of risk and governance within the women’s gynaecology and children’s services directorates.

The post holder will play a key role in leadership, development, and transformation to support the delivery of the highest possible quality of services for service users through highly developed robust Risk Management & Clinical Governance processes.

 

To work in partnership and in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary services actively learning from clinical incidents or complaints. Participate in service improvement projects or development programmes that contribute to the modernisation of gynaecology and children’s services, providing both professional and clinical advice

as necessary.

 

To lead the development, implementation and audit of clinical guidelines, protocols and policies to ensure evidence based clinical practice and safe, high quality care that is embedded into practice.

 

To engage effectively with clinical leaders and others to ensure that the women’s and children’s workforce work in an environment that enables them to provide safe, high quality, appropriate care for patients/service users, within available resources, demonstrating improvements to patient/client care, productivity, and efficiency.

 

Main duties of the job

 The post holder will work as part of the WC+SS Risk and Governance team to   support the clinical teams in the Women's , Children's and Specialist Services Division to  maintain and improve patient safety by  responding to clinical incidents, and identifying risks within the directorates. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of evidence-based clinical standards, ensuring high quality care, and providing effective leadership for staff in their area of work. 
The post holder will promote a culture of openness and transparency through regular and effective two way communications; and by role modelling the Trust’s Right Care Behaviours.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse / Midwife with current NMC registration
  • • Relevant Health Related Degree
  • • Evidence of recent continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Risk and governance related qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of supporting clinical staff with Quality Improvement
  • • Recent experience of working at Band 7
  • • Supporting clinical teams following incidents
  • • Achievement of high quality care through evidence based practice
Desirable criteria
  • • Leadership of clinical governance and patient safety
  • • Updating clinical guidelines /NICE Guidance assessments
  • PMA / PNA

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of providing motivational, professional leadership with highly developed interpersonal skills

  • • Experience in Chairing meetings

Knowledge
