Job overview
We are looking for someone ideally with experience of: The delivery of a Professional patient focused meal service ensuring all hygiene and safety standards are always maintained .
Candidate will be expected to work a range of shifts on a 3 week rota working two weekends out of three.
Main duties of the job
- Demonstrate a professional customer focused service
- Comply with Hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP).
- Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols.
- Working in a hot environment, or in continuous chilled environment
- Accurate collation and service of patient meal
- Accurate completion of documentation.
- Long periods of time spent on feet

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The delivery of a Professional patient focused meal service ensuring all hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Please note whilst this role is predominantly based in the catering department, there may be a requirement in the future to work across all Facility services, which include Portering/Linen, Domestics, Catering, Transport/Equipment and other support services

Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to work within a team to deadlines
- Good food hygiene practices
- Able to undertake the physical aspects/manual handling of the role, including (for example) operation of equipment, movement of stock, standing for long periods of time.
- Good communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Working in a ward environment and speaking to staff and patients.
Experience
Essential criteria
- The ability to communicate well with staff, patients and members of the public.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a large catering environment.
- To demonstrate a methodical and organised approach to work.
- Experience of stock handling and control systems.
- Understand the need to exercise confidentiality, sensitivity and have an awareness of the demands placed on Catering Services staff
Qualifications
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 1 or 2 in Customer Service
- Basic Food hygiene certificate

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
