The clinical research nurse will have experience delivering research in an acute hospital setting working on commercial and non-commercial NIHR adopted portfolios.

In addition it is expected  that the post holder will support the management and leadership provided to research nurses, midwives, clinical trial assistants and administrative staff within the research team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT).

 The post holder will have knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the delivery of clinical trials from set up to closure.

The post holder will  deliver existing studies and lead new research studies at CHFT.  They will be responsible for the co-ordination and support of clinical research portfolios across a range of speciality areas including cardiology and stroke, 

the post holder will  ensure that ICH/GCP, trial protocol, local CHFT governance and professional codes of conduct are adhered to assuring that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.

The role will involve raising the profile of research, embedding research into clinical specialties, making research visible in clinical settings and increasing the amount of research we can offer our patients at CHFT

There is an expectation that the post holder will be able to work accross both our acute hospital sites.

• Embed research into clinical settings.
• Establish effective communication with specialty MDTs.
• Actively promote research within the Trust and act as lead nurse contact for patients within a designated research portfolio, 
• Co-ordinate and run a research nurse clinic as required.
• Be visible in clinical settings recruiting patients into research studies.
• Lead the delivery of a research protocol.
• Support local principal investigators.
• Support colleagues and researchers throughout the research study design, including the delivery of clinical aspects associated with the research study
• Identify and screen appropriate study participants, in accordance with the protocol, and in conjunction with other members of the clinical and research team
• Receive informed consent for designated research studies as agreed within the protocol and R&D approval
• Ensure that processes and procedures for ensuring participant confidentiality are developed and adhered to in compliance with the data Protection Act and Caldicott regulations
• Monitor and ensure that standards of care are maintained and that policies, procedures and protocols are adhered to
• Provide knowledge and demonstrate accurate attention to detail in documentation tasks, to include: Investigator Site File maintenance, CRF completion, Documenting Source Data.
• Support research dlivery team leadership in their absence.
• Support the development of junior research team colleagues.
