Trosolwg o'r swydd

Bowel Cancer is a major health issue.  It is the fourth most common cause of cancer in the UK.  The Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield Bowel Cancer Screening Programme currently invites men and women aged 60-74 to complete an at home test kit which if positive requires them to attend for a screening colonoscopy investigation to determine whether they have bowel cancer. The programme will be extended to invite men and women aged 50 -59 over the next 4 years.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a person to take on the post of Bowel Cancer Screening Specialist Screening Nurse Practitioner. This post requires a qualified nurse with 4 years post registration experience and ideally some experience of nursing Colorectal patients.  The post involves provision of Nurse Led Clinics in community settings across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield and attendance and support at Screening Colonoscopy Lists at Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Hospital.  The post holder will be expected to manage a caseload of patients and must conform to local and national policies, procedures and guidelines. The post holder must be flexible to ensure continuity of service.  This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of extended screening for a major cancer.  The Programme is already making a significant difference to peoples’ lives and you could be part of this change.

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS – yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boards listen to their Council of Governors and respond to the needs of their members – patients, staff and the local community.

Foundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in the changes to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.
