An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer to join our Finance team in the East of England Region –Direct Commissioning.

We are looking for an individual who can operate in a fast paced and exciting environment and who can bring not only previous experience but diversity in thought and diversity in background to an established team.

  • You will be AAT qualified or CCB / CIMA part-qualified
  • You will have demonstrable experience in financial management, preferably in Direct Commissioning
  • Excellent numerical and financial analysis skills, using appropriate Microsoft Office tools and intermediate knowledge of Excel. 
  • Ability to take the initiative and demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving working practices and procedures
  • You will have proven experience in working to tight and conflicting deadlines, while managing own workload and prioritising accordingly.

Main duties of the job

The key elements of this role are:

  • Support the Finance Manager in monitoring spend and resource requirement in direct commissioning.
  • Processing large volumes of invoices.
  • Creating and uploading month end journals.  
  • Monitoring and distribution of emails, dealing with queries, claims.
  • Liaising with any internal and external parties including dealing with queries from other NHSE/I colleague and external providers.
  • To provide financial performance reports as part of monthly reporting.
  • Analyse and report on data and monitor the processing of data and information.
  • To support the Finance Manager to monitor and contribute to the drawing up of service line budgets.
  • To identify and investigate problems and queries relating to data/information processing and management and take the appropriate action in response, ensuring maintenance of data quality.

Essential criteria
  • AAT qualified or CCAB / CIMA part-qualified

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Invoice Management Experience in relevant financial area
  • Good analytical skills, including the interpretation of complex data for management information
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Extensive experience working with SBS and using Oracle for raising purchase orders, matching and dealing with queries

Other Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate commitment to continuously improve working practices and procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and prioritise work
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced team, adhering to deadlines
