Job overview
Spectrum is recruiting a Substance Misuse Specialist Nurse who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in Health and Justice.
We’re looking for a registered nurse with excellent leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders – from pharmacists and practitioners to NHS providers and services.
You’ll be effective and visible leader for junior staff, maintaining high standards and ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures.
With your person-centred approach and commitment to recovery, you’ll develop individual care plans based around comprehensive assessment and recovery planning. As a confident communicator, you will thrive whilst carrying out assessments and feel at ease communicating the full range of treatment options to patients.

Main duties of the job
- Work as part of a team to develop individual care plans through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
- Assess individual’s health needs using an evidenced based framework and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to the service user’s needs.
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options.
- Work collaboratively with the GP’s, other Nurses and the management team to shape a high-quality service to patients.
- Provide leadership to junior staff by maintaining professional standards, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
- To undertake the duties of non-medical prescribing within the substance misuse service ensuring compliance with Spectrum’s policies.
- This includes being involved with shift planning, taking appropriate action to adjust staffing levels and to prioritise the workload in accordance with patient need, service demand and the availability of staff.
- The post holder will be involved with assessing, diagnosing, providing advice and administering care to patients.
- You will also be expected to demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC).
- RCGP level 1
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Working towards being an Independent Nurse Prescriber
Desirable criteria
- RCGP level 2
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working autonomously
- Evidence of supervision of junior staff
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of participation in clinical supervision (either in the supervised or supervisor role)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
