Job overview

Are you a dedicated registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a new challenge within a diverse, fast paced setting? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to become part of an integrated clinical workforce at HMP Durham. Pharmacy Technicians are forming an essential part of our excellence in care long-term plan and as a result are taking on more diverse patient-facing roles. No two days are the same working in our friendly and supportive team. 

The welcome payment is payable to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to support and develop the skills of pharmacy technicians to provide a varied range of services as well as some dispensary-based work. If you are interested in this post, you will need a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy services and be a registered pharmacy technician. An accuracy checking pharmacy technician would be desirable.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Appropriate accredited technician checking qualification

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good clinical pharmacy knowledge including terminology
  • Computer literate- able to use Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to prepare reports and bulletins
  • Influencing skills
  • Able to use Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook (or competent to complete) Patient counselling skills
  • Has a good understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
  • Ability to work in a complex and challenging environment
  • Able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy
Desirable criteria
  • Able to interpret and understand prescribing information
  • Medicines supply / administration direct to the patient
