Job overview

We are looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic Paediatric Specialist Radiographer who wants to participate in the leadership and progression of our busy and friendly team. The post holder will have great motivation and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder will work closely with paediatric consultants in order to develop the paediatric X-ray  services at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will play a vital role supporting and supervising radiographers  and students within the Primary Imaging department. They will facilitate the Lead Radiographer by training and educating, with a particular focus on paediatric imaging. They will be required to rotate between each site at the trust and partake in a 24/7 flexible shift system, providing specialist support for radiographers, assistants and students within primary imaging. Therefore, contributing to the development of excellent paediatric patient focused care and newly qualified radiographers.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Team, providing a high quality Imaging Service to the patients at Bradford

To carry out high quality diagnostic imaging examinations according to departmental and national protocols whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.

Provide teaching to Radiology staff to improve paediatric imaging, and patient experience.

To act as a supervisor for radiographic staff and students.

The post holder will be expected to work out-of-hours and participate in a 24/7 flexible shift system.

To maintain and enhance clinical expertise ensuring high technical and professional standards at all times.

To ensure imaging procedures are carried out in accordance with mandatory department systems of work and protocols.

To actively develop high standards of patient care through involvement in department audit and quality assurance programmes.

To keep updated in current trends in Radiography and take an active part in Clinical Governance. Establishing and maintaining a pattern of study that fulfils CPD criteria.

The successful candidate will participate in clinical audit and research within the primary imaging department to facilitate the growth of Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. The post holder will have prior supervisory experience and have a high clinical knowledge within the Primary Imaging Department. They will also have in depth knowledge and understanding of IR(ME)R 2017 and IR2017.

Working for our organisation

The Radiology Department at Bradford provides a comprehensive imaging service to support the wide spectrum of clinical work undertaken within the Trust.  Our imaging work covers multiple sites, Bradford Royal Infirmary, St Luke’s and the Eccleshill Community Diagnostic Centre. We currently have a total of 4 CT and 4 MR scanners, 3 Vascular / Interventional rooms and day case unit, along with numerous ultrasound rooms, general and A&E x-ray rooms with DR equipment. We have also recently installed a Cone Beam CT within the radiology department.  All major clinical specialties, with the exceptions of transplant surgery, neurosurgery and cardiac surgery are represented in the Trust.
