Job overview
We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our friendly, dynamic and expanding team. In addition to working alongside the education and training pharmacy team.
This position will focus on providing our staff with excellent training to become skilled, highly competent and confident in their job roles.
Main duties of the job
There will be a large focus on quality assurance ensuring training programmes meet regulatory and funding requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside our Specialist Education and Training Pharmacy Technician, to work on service improvement, in response to the changing needs of learners and patients ensuring training programmes remain of a high quality and relevant to the needs of patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Design and deliver training within the pharmacy department and oversee the NVQ level 2 training for Pharmacy Support Staff and NVQ level 3 training and apprenticeships.
- Dispense and issue prescriptions.
- Perform accuracy checks on dispensed and ward stock items prepared by other staff.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of pharmacy service delivery post qualification acquired through NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC equivalent level qualification plus specialist training and experience to degree or equivalent level.
- Experience of working in a similar role
- Considerable experience in all areas of hospital pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in supervising and mentoring staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising staff including basic HR advice
- Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- To be able to emphasise with patients and the ability to deal with any barriers to understanding
- Ability to provide comprehensive training to other staff
- Numeracy skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Good team working skills
- Demonstrable attention to detail
- Well-developed IT skills and be computer literate
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Medicines Management
- Knowledge and understanding of Pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (NVQ) or equivalent qualification.
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
- Undertaken Educational Supervisor Training with accredited provider (e.g. HEE)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
