Specialist Clinical Technologist (Clinical Physics) - 10.5 hpw

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Clinical Technologist, Radiographer or Nurse to join our small, but friendly team providing a Clinical Physics service for Bradford and the surrounding districts. The department is open Monday to Friday and there may be flexibility as to how the working hours of this post will sit within this period. It is expected that the successful candidate will work their hours over 1-2 days.

The key investigations conducted by the Clinical Physics service are urodynamics, oesophageal manometry/pH studies and anorectal manometry/ultrasound. These tests involve taking pressure measurements within the urinary and GI tracts.

The role involves working closely with the urology and radiology teams as well as attending MDTs.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibilities of this post include working closely with patients to undertake urodynamics and manometry investigations using specialist medical equipment. After completing the study, the results are analysed, and a clinical report written to explain the findings of the test to the referring clinician. Most of the work is carried out autonomously, but support is available from the section head, and clinicians.

Working for our organisation

Our People Charter outlines the behaviours we can expect from one another and what you can expect from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust:

  • We value people
  • We are one team
  • We care

We’re keen to meet people who share these values and are passionate about delivering the highest quality of care to our patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will work in the Clinical Physics section carrying out highly specialist Clinical Physics investigations. On a day-to-day basis the job role involves working closely with patients, undertaking the investigations, analysing the results, and writing up reports which will be issued to the referring clinician.
The workload covers both inpatients and outpatients, from the Bradford region and surrounding areas. The service must respond to rapid changes in demands, including a swift response for urgent requests.
The post-holder may also be required to rotate through other clinical services undertaken in the Clinical Physics section of the Medical Physics Department. These include anorectal manometry, ultrasound, and oesophageal manometry/pH studies.
