Specialist Pharmacist Mental Health - Coastal West Sussex Locality

Are you enthusiastic and passionate about improving the lives of patients with mental health problems, then apply for a specialist pharmacist role in our Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Trust.   We have an opportunity to support the inpatient units based in Worthing and Chichester.  

The post is fixed term contract to support the team during a period of maternity leave.

You should have a passion for working within mental health and an understanding of the medicines used within mental health services.  The post holder will be supported to undertake further accreditations as appropriate, and there are opportunities to develop the role and service to the wards. 

You will be joining a friendly, supportive Pharmacy team which is highly regarded in the Trust and is rapidly expanding due to recent significant investments.  This role is a great opportunity to start or continue a career in mental health and can lead to a future of more senior roles within mental health.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

This role will provide a clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation service to ensure patient’s get the best from their medicines and that other healthcare professionals are well informed and skilled to be able to manage the use of medicines correctly, safely and cost effectively.  The role will be based on the inpatient wards of Meadowfield, Worthing, but also provide a service to inpatients wards at the Chichester centre & Oaklands units at Chichester .  This includes adult acute, older persons, dementia and forensic wards.  The role will support the safe and effective use of medicines within the service, working closely with the pharmacy staff within the Coastal West Sussex locality of Sussex Partnership, and as part of the wider service MDT and Trust wide pharmacy team.

There is no weekend or dispensary working.  On call is an advice service only and is currently more than 1 in 30 weeks, with senior support provided and only band 7 and above are on the on call rota.

  • To lead the clinical pharmacy service provided within defined locality of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
  • To assist and support the locality pharmacy teams to ensure continuity of patient care.
