Following the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections in January 2019, our trust was rated overall as ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ in care; we are looking to appoint a Senior HR Advisor who is able to contribute to the development of achieving Outstanding in all areas. 

We are looking for a motivated Senior HR Advisor able to demonstrate significant experience of successfully managing a varied and demanding caseload, delivering front line Human Resources advice and guidance, including investigations, disciplinary hearings and performance, absence management, management of change and grievances. You will keep to clear timeframes and manage risk by applying knowledge of best HR practice, latest case law and legislations.

This is a highly interactive position that requires a degree of autonomous working supported by an HR Manager and be responsible to the HR Business Partner. You will work within an experienced HR Advisory team providing cross-cover and support to each other. 

You will ideally be CIPD qualified and have experience of providing HR advice in a generalist role and working in a unionised environment. You should have a good up to date knowledge of UK employment legislation and be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages. NHS experience is desirable.

The post holder will work as a key member of the HR team, to ensure a comprehensive, quality and timely HR service is provided to a designated client base in relation to all aspects of Human Resources. 

The Trust is rated 'Good' from CQC (Care Quality Commission) and will become the lead provider for mental health services across Sussex and Hampshire CAMHs.

The post holder will have the opportunity to get involved in project work and will take a lead on a number of HR initiatives.

 To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of: 

  • Guiding managers through the Change Management cycle
  • Managing a high volume of ER case work with the ability to adapt your style
  • Working alongside recruitment colleagues and hiring managers.
  • Developing a collaborative relationship with Trade Unions and Staff Reps. 
  • Supporting Learning & Development and Health & Safety initiatives
  • Coaching, partnering and developing management capabilities across the Service including providing bitesize training for managers.
  • HR Project work 
  • Policy and process development. Supporting ongoing improvement of HR practice and ensuring learning from regular case review feeds into this.
  • Extensively advising on all HR and ER matters within a multi-site area.
  • Providing monthly reports on workforce information and ad hoc reports.
  • Inputting information onto our ER systems and authorizing contract amendments to ensure accurate employee records.
  • Representing the HR team in meetings
  • Attending managers meetings and providing HR updates

Qualifications

  • Graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of recent CPD

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive generalist HR experience working within a complex organisation with exposure to a range of HR issues
  • Experience of interpreting and advising on complex terms and conditions, policies and procedures
  • Experience of using and extracting information from HR/Payroll Database
  • Experience of working cooperatively with trade unions
  • Experience of supporting managers in sickness, disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Experienced and understanding of the scope and practical application of current and impending employment legislation
  • Experience of introducing changes to working practices, policies and systems and sustaining improvements.
  • Experience of job evaluation/grading systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of key issues within the NHS and/or other public sector organisations
  • Experience of Policy formulation
  • Experience of management of change and workforce redesign/skill mix.
  • Experience of A4C job evaluation system and terms and conditions.
