Job overview

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team as a permanent Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner.

1wte (37.5hrs) Band 5 CAMHS practitioner to work in Sandwell Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service within the Neuro Development constellation based in West Bromwich. The ND team is part of the wider CAMHS team and there will be opportunity to work across all constellations that cover specialist CAMHS.

This post is suitable for newly qualified practitioners and you will be able to undertake your preceptorship. We are looking for nurses, OTs or Speech and Language therapists who have a passion for CAMHS and neuro diversity. 

 

Main duties of the job

We are a diverse, energetic, enthusiastic and hard working multi disciplinary team working with children and young people from 0-18 who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties, including those with neuro diversity, learning disability and children in care.  We are a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team comprising Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Family Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Psychiatry.

We also have strong links to other agencies and also to our sister teams across the Black Country. We have long standing connections with a number of educational establishments and offer placements regularly to trainees from a variety of disciplines.

 

 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will hold a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence based and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions, for example, risk assessment, cognitive and behavioural approaches, motivational techniques and family work under the supervision of a senior colleague.

The successful applicant will play a key role in assisting the multi-disciplinary ASC team to provide quality assessment and therapeutic services to children and young people. Working with support systems to gather multi-agency assessment information to contribute to multi-agency panel decisions.

Qualifications & Registration

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or equivalent
  • Registered with a governing body as relevant to the above
  • Must have experience of working with young people with common mental health problems and/or neurodevelopmental conditions
Desirable criteria
  • Further qualifications relevant to the post
  • Expresses an interest in the role
