Purpose of volunteering role: To support admin staff at the Kingshill Centre, Wednesbury

This is a voluntary role which is unpaid. 

Black Country Healthcare is a major provider of NHS mental health services for more than a million people across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton:

Adult and older adult mental health services

  • Specialist learning disabilities services 
  • Mental health services for children and young people
  • Community healthcare for children, young people and families in Dudley

Main duties of the job

This voluntary role will support the Talking Therapies team with administrative tasks such as: 

- Printing and enveloping patient appointment letters

- Covering reception as needed - welcoming patients and asking them to sign in

- Emailing GP letters

- Basic administration

 

The role is based at the Kingshill Centre, Wednesbury, WS10 9JF. Volunteers must be able to travel here and live within reasonable distance of the site. Travel costs will be reimbursed.

We are looking for volunteers who have these qualities:

  • Computer skills - competent in use of email, Microsoft Office and databases 
  • Organisational Skills
  • Reliability: Commitment to a regular volunteer schedule to provide consistent support
  • Awareness of mental health
  • Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries for their own safety and safety of the patients.
  • Live in the Black Country or Birmingham area, within a reasonable travel distance to site. 
  • Volunteers must be over 18

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
