Job overview
The post holder will assist the (Nurse) Manager in delivering a 24-hour Nurse led respite/enhanced support service. They will work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive care plans and care packages. The post holder will mostly work without direct supervision and they will be responsible for leading and supporting the team in providing good quality care.
An adaptable and flexible approach is required due to frequent changing needs of the SU/CYP and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
medication administration - checking and booking in
Management of patient care
Management of epilepsy, diabetes, gastrostomy's, suction and various health needs
Assist manager with audits and rota
management of shift allocating staff to service users and delegating duties
Ensuring that all HACCUP requirements are met throughout the shift
Manage a small case load updating health records and reviewing the health of the individual with their families, working with MDT

- R.N.L.D (R.N.M.H.) holds and continues to hold effective registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate a positive approach to the structure and delivery of care which addresses the holistic nature of Adult’s needs (written exercise)
- Must be able and willing to function as a mentor for student nurses.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to induct and develop staff, monitor performance, and give feedback using informal and formal systems, to include medication training.
- Must be able to keep accurate records in accordance with Nursing Midwifery Council.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Must have recent experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities
- Experience in developing and creating innovative and complex care packages that are person centred
