Estates Tradesperson (Plumber/Heating Engineer)

Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Technical/Operational
To install, maintain, service and repair the full range of estates services equipment, across all areas of their trade.
To take responsibility for complex diagnostic fault finding, problem solving and repair and maintenance of equipment. To undertake servicing and installation of equipment and systems within the Trust and in other properties maintained by the Maintenance Department. Including Water Systems, Natural Gas appliances/equipment, HVAC, Steam raising Plant, Refrigeration, Medical Gas Systems, Mechanical Pressure Systems, Oil fired plant, Drainage and Decontamination etc.
To carry out new work or undertake new production appropriate to his/her original trade using relevant instruments and machinery without supervision. This may include the manufacture, assembly, erection and installation of new work using own initiative, experience and judgement.
To analyse and diagnose plant problems using Building Management System.
To effect temporary repairs/” make safe” works in emergency situations.
Report and facilitate all repairs as necessary.
To undertake condition surveys of equipment and acceptance testing of new equipment.
To act as nominated competent person in own specialist trained areas for statutory standards in line with appropriate HTM standard.
To undertake the role of an emergency engineer in an emergency on-call system covering all properties maintained by the Trust and as specified by the Estates Officer (Ops).
Communications/Organisational
To liaise with front line clinical staff to understand and communicate issues relating to complex engineering plant and equipment.
To prioritize and plan own workload, taking responsibility for assessing and re-allocating duties in response to priority, in liaison with EOO.
To train less experienced maintenance staff in using complex engineering plant and equipment.
Co-ordinate the work of contractors and supervise the work of junior maintenance staff and contractors on a day to day basis.
To contribute to the development of plant maintenance procedures.
To take responsibility for purchase of spares and materials using allocated Trust purchase cards, coding expenditure to appropriate works docket.
To use computerized Planet (CAFM) system to record all hours and materials used for each work order.
Other
To undertake driving duties on a range of vehicles covered by a standard driving license as and when required by the Estates Officer (Ops).
To undertake such other appropriate duties and/or responsibilities as may be directed by the Estates Officer (Ops).
Be prepared to learn new techniques and undertake any training deemed necessary in order to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
To carry out duties and/or undertake responsibilities relating to health and safety in accordance with the Trust and departmental safety policies and procedures.
To have an understanding of the relationship of other crafts workers work relating to his/her own.
To work constructively as part of the team, including the corporate and technical team.
