Main duties of the job

Applications are welcomed for enthusiastic and well-motivated Trust Doctors (Trust house officer) in Trauma and Orthopaedics post based at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust to commence as soon as possible, subject to pre-employment checks.

The department consists of 9 consultants providing elective and emergency care. The Trust house officer workforce form an essential part of delivery of high quality care and augments the junior grade structure around both training and service needs for both tiers. The main responsibility of this post will be the best care for emergency patients.

 Applicants must hold full GMC registration and should possess the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, have good interpersonal skills, and have a caring attitude towards patients and evidence of good clinical practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities

Organising and assisting with ward work and preoperative clerking

Clerking of new patients and organising investigations 

Routine ward duties and rounds with consultants and other medical staff.

To provide general surgical care for the Consultant’s patients in consultation with the consultants and other medical staff and provide care for all patients when on call.

Participate in appropriate pre-op assessment clinic.

Core responsibilities

Communicate and work collaboratively with all members of the surgical team

Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients and relatives about all aspects of their clinical care.

 Always maintain patient confidentiality.

Maintain legible and accurate documentation in the clinical records.
