Main duties of the job

The Radiographic Assistant will provide support to the Radiographers, Consultants and Breast Care Nurses within the Unit by carrying out various non-radiographic duties in order to provide an efficient, patient-centred service for Breast Care Unit.

The Radiographic Assistant will be supported and managed by the Senior Breast Care Nurses within the Unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·         Preparing for clinics and ensuring the availability of patient information to ensure that patients receive appropriate treatment during clinics.

·         Ensuring patients’ data is effectively inputted on to the computer system.

·         Effective communication with patients.

·         Making patient appointments

·         Management of patient information to ensure compliance with information governance.

·         Assist as required with clinical procedures within the Breast Care Unit.

·         Act as chaperone as required.

·         Assisting with stock control within the  unit

·         Apply infection prevention and control guidance/ policy within the unit.

·         Attend appropriate training relevant to role.

Person specification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of dealing with the general public.
  • IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with patients in a hospital environment.

Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of a good general education
  • Maths and English equivalent to above level 4.

Skills and Abilities
