ADVERT: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST LEARNING DISABILITIES
BAND 5 22.5 HOURS
BASE Whitnash Lodge, Heathcote Lane, Warwick
Due to some reorganisation and in response to our service need, we are delighted to be able to advertise an Occupational Therapy post in The Community Learning Disability Team. This post would be suitable for a qualified therapist who has had experience with people with Learning Disabilities.
This would be part of a Multi-disciplinary team and comprise of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Community learning Disability Nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists.
The successful candidate would have compassion and enthusiasm for working with this client group. They would need to show initiative and flexibility and be able to work in a person-centred way. They would also be able to follow direction and work within their scope of practice.
Due to the large geographical and sometimes rural area within the South Warwickshire the successful candidate must have their own transport that they can use for work.
This is a clinical area where you can use and develop a diverse range of Occupational Therapy skills.

Main duties of the job
To provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment programmes to clients with learning disabilities complex needs within South Warwickshire Community Learning Disability Team. Occasional working across teams may be required.
To be an autonomous practitioner, holding a clinical caseload and working without direct supervision.
To support other therapy staff, students and colleagues deliver the Occupational Therapy services.
To provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, clients, carers, relatives or other non-professional contacts

- BSC Occupational Therapy
Knowledge and Skills

- Competent with clients with complex needs, communication issues and/or challenging behaviour
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work with clients on an individual basis and within groups
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience or interest in working with people with learning disabilities.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
