Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join the IT team in Lincoln as a logistics support technician.

This is a perfect entry-level job for someone who has recently qualified from College, or University and are looking to get that experience in the NHS IT. You will need to coordinate and complete logistical collections, deliveries and deployments for our customers and provide support to the IT service delivery team.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual that prides themselves in working to high standards to meet customer and SLA requirements.

Main duties of the job

The role will require a logical and methodical mind, with attention to detail to manage, monitor and track IT stock across different sites, working with colleagues in different regions to manage deliveries, deployments and disposals.

The post holder will be part of an integral team, supporting the wider logistics service and the local engineering teams, including the delivery and installation of simple IT items and preparing PCs and laptops with a basic image. 

The post would be suitable for someone with entry-level knowledge of IT who would like to gain further knowledge and experience working in the field as part of their career progression.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To Co-ordinate and schedule logistics collections in the geographical area covered by AGEM’s business.
  • To upgrade and administer builds with the build team.
  • To manage disposal levels and arrange for collection of redundant items with the approved 3rd party disposal company.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Being proactive and able to make decisions or escalate issues when required.
  • Adaptable to different situations.
  • Self-motivation and driven to learn new technologies and skills.
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of IT hardware imaged and deployed in the organisation.
  • To prioritise and manage PC and laptop imaging requirements ensuring that they are created within agreed timescales and in accordance with IT policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE grade C or above or equivalent (including English and Maths).
  • A level/advanced apprenticeship level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Achieved Grades/Experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience working in an IT environment and with computerised data systems.
  • Experience working in an environment where confidentiality needs to be maintained, and information governance requirements apply.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in supporting internal or external customers.
  • Experience in an NHS IT department.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
