Job overview
- Provide a highly specialist, high standard Speech and Language Therapy service, assessing and advising on patients care & treatment, as an autonomous practitioner working with patients with dysphagia and communication difficulty.
- Provide clinical supervision and acting as a resource to advise Speech and Language Therapy staff working with dysphagia and communication, ensuring that an integrated & successful therapy service is provided.
- Work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programmes, taking on the role of care co-ordinator where appropriate.
- Take a lead on the planning, development, co-ordination & evaluation within the Speech and Language Therapy service.
- Provide support and cover across the whole SLT service within your competencies.
- Cordinate the service provided across Rugby St Cross and UHCW wards.
Main duties of the job
1) Clinical
1. Maintain a clean safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness hygiene & infection control at all times.
2. Be professionally & legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. Ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under your management and to support more junior staff to do likewise.
3. Interpret & analyse clinical & non clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis & prognosis on wide range of highly complex conditions in order to recommend the best course of intervention, evaluate outcomes, reassess & to develop comprehensive discharge plans.
4. Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients with dysphagia and communication difficulties including those with complex presentation. Investigate & analyse skills & formulate individualised management & treatment plans and specialised programmes of care.
