Are you a Biomedical Scientist with a passion for Research?

Do you want to help develop an exciting research facility with national coverage?
Arden Tissue Bank is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, skilled, professional biomedical scientist to join our friendly team. We are a small team passionate about facilitating research.
The successful candidate will be patient facing, whilst also expected to work collaboratively with the research team members, clinical teams, academic, industry partners and regulatory bodies.
No two days are the same, and there may be the opportunity to work in the Multi-omics unit at UHCW, working with cutting edge spatial transcriptomics and proteomics platforms.
Full training will be provided and is mandatory for the facility to maintain accreditation.
Successful applicants will be expected to be able to work independently, be pro-active and have excellent communication skills. The department operates an on-call system and the successful candidate will take part in this rota.

We are looking for someone with great Scientific knowledge, whilst with excellent communication skills and able to build personal relationships. The successful candidate should be an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a passion for research.
The role involves using an in-depth knowledge of the clinical/Scientific skills, as part of the research team to support the safe conduct of the research in accordance with regulatory and legal frameworks relating to the planning, undertaking of research projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delegated tasks required for delivery of a fit-for-purpose HTA compliant biobanking facility. The post holder will be expected to collaborate with the coordination of the tissue bank portfolio research projects/studies.

a) To interpret laboratory results and take appropriate actions in line with service policies.
b) Give technical information to other service users such as appropriate specimens/sampling and turnaround times.
c) Contribute to project set up, recruitment, and project delivery planning.
d) Assist in the review of project/study protocols and contribute to feasibility/project selection process, advising on regulatory and logistical issues.
e) Work with other teams and investigators to develop strategies to overcome barriers to recruitment/collection and solve other problems relating to specific projects.
f) Provide information to project participants/patients regarding their participation in order to facilitate effective informed consent.
g) To undertake informed consent ensuring that consent forms are completed accurately and filed as required and in accordance with HTA regulation.
h) Co-ordinate the recruitment of patients to research projects in addition to oversight of junior team members participation.
i) Work unsupervised in all areas related to the research projects and supervise junior team members.
j) Collect relevant samples as required by the research project, package and dispatch as required. Ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens in accordance with HTA regulations and Trust guidance.
k) To coordinate/organize hosted collections and supervise/support junior members of the team.
