Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Assurance Team in the Quality Department as a Band 5 Assurance Officer.

We are looking for an organised and confident individual to work within the Clinical Effectiveness and Assurance Team in the Quality Department at UHCW to assist, facilitate, support and provide guidance to directorates in all areas of governance and assurance. This permanent position is suited to someone with a Quality background who wants to advance their career in a busy and supportive workplace.

The Assurance Team, led by the Head of Clinical Effectiveness and Assurance, and Assurance Manager oversee and implement the delivery of key assurance activities. These include but are not limited to, the design and delivery of a range of inspection activities, such as CQC inspections, peer review visits and other types of inspections, along with various other work programmes.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will predominantly maintain the Trusts assurance processes and systems and be responsible for organising assurance activities such as inspections and helping clinicians to progress action plans. The role will also involve being part of the New and Novel Procedures Process. This includes accepting applications from staff regarding anything new that they may want to introduce to the Trust. This could be anything such as a medical device used for a procedure to an actual procedure itself. The successful candidate will support delivery of this by offering support and advice through the process and scheduling meetings as well as facilitating the New and Novel Procedures Group (NNPG).

We are looking for candidates with excellent written and verbal communication skills, dedication and the ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy. An understanding of the NHS is desirable, plus proven experience of using Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. You will need to show experience of working with data, and the ability to manage your workload in a busy environment. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To develop a detailed understanding of the key regulatory requirements within governance, namely CQC registration and compliance, and monitor quality governance frameworks.

To support the Assurance Manager and Head of Clinical Effectiveness and Assurance in developing and implementing policies, procedures, guidelines, systems and processes which will ensure the organisation is able to meet it’s statutory, regulatory and NHS compliance requirements.          

To co-ordinate the internal and external infrastructure to support the Trust in meeting statutory and regulatory NHS compliance requirements such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration and inspection frameworks.

To manage the central evidence requirements for all Trust wide assurance activity including but not exhaustive of Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration (the Trust’s license to operate) and inspection frameworks.

To co-ordinate compliance evidence, gap analysis, self-assessments, and action plans to support NHS governance standards.

To develop and produce information / performance reports and provide a central information function for assurance and compliance purposes.
