Due to investment in our service and internal promotions, we are looking for experienced, motivated, innovative, dynamic and friendly band 6 Neonatal Specialist Nurses to join our expert team of clinical staff.  You should be keen to be part of a forward looking team that is not afraid of change to progress and improve the family’s journey in neonates.

Our neonatal unit looks after up to 8 Intensive care cots, 8 High dependency cots, 14 Special care cots and 4 Transitional care cots. We are the hub for the new Outreach service for the Coventry, Warwickshire and Nuneaton area.

Education is our passion and helps us stand out as a leader of Neonatal Nurse development. Over the years we have built an excellent reputation for high quality healthcare and outstanding career development. We support extended roles such as Neonatal Educational Practitioners, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Developmental Care Nurse & Infant Feeding nurse roles and numerous link roles.

We also encourage development onto management courses to help you progress in your career.

  1. Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
  2. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team.
  3. A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development. Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated/audited.
  4. Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, resource, supporting the Band 7’s Co-ordinator responsibilities and acting up as appropriate, both clinically and within their teams.
  5. Participate in local cross site working as required to comply with Ockendon Neonatal Workforce recommendations.
  6. Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including complex patient monitoring; equipment management and frequent administration of invasive tests/procedures.
  7. Develop and educate staff, participating in supervision, mentorship and appraisal as required.
  8. Utilise and ensure others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data available.
  9. Manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring varying levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
  10. Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g., imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
  11. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
  12. Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control at all times.
