Paediatric Audiologist - Band 5 - Healthcare Science Practitioner

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Paediatric Audiology Healthcare Science Practitioner (Audiology) to join our team.

 We are a UKAS accredited service (since 2013) and you will be fully supported with training and a preceptorship scheme when joining the team. We provide a monthly dedicated training session for all staff which includes case studies and external speakers, providing excellent opportunities to ensure your CPD is maintained.

You will have a BSc Audiology (or equivalent), and have or be working towards AHCS / RCCP registration and will be a member of either BSA or BAA.

You should be able to demonstrate experience in / or a particular desire to train in paediatric Audiology.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is interested in paediatric audiology and is keen to learn and engage in paediatric testing within our UKAS accredited, Family-led paediatric Audiology service. We provide a full adult & paediatric Audiology service across Coventry and Rugby and you will work across sites.

You will be expected to be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate nature, with good interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to manage a busy and varied workload in a timely manner is essential.  We would expect you to have a flexible approach to day to day tasks, in order to meet the demands of the service.

A Healthcare Science Practitioner (Audiology) performs a range of complex clinical or technical procedures and is accountable for his/her own actions and for the actions of those they direct and/or supervise. Supervision, as required, must be provided by a Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioner (Audiology) or Healthcare or Clinical Scientist.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A range of clinical investigations, procedures or processes can be performed to deliver patient care according to the agreed IMP. These investigations, procedures or processes must also be interpreted and reported to the patient and others involved in his/her care.

The following may be undertaken: audiometry, diagnostic tympanometry; diagnostic reflexes; OAEs; speech audiometry.

Paediatric assessments – the following may be undertaken: VRA testing, distraction testing, play or performance audiometry and PTA. Paediatric testing will be led by a Specialist Healthcare Science Practitioner (Audiology) / Healthcare or Clinical Scientist.

Within the role of the Practitioner, further skill development is possible and expected with a view to further advancement.
