Are you an experienced, dynamic Consultant Clinical Psychologist with proven expertise in providing effective senior leadership within multi-professional settings and processes and have experience of leading sizeable service developments and improvements with proven impact?

 

We are looking to recruit to the post of Directorate Lead for Psychological Services and Professions for inpatient mental health and urgent care services. The postholder will operationally account to the Director of Operations for Adult Mental Health and Older People’s services and professionally to the Director of Psychological Services and Professions.  In this role you will have responsibility for professionally and clinically leading the other Consultant grade Psychologists in the Directorate and will provide clinical supervision to these and other Consultants within the Trust.  You will drive research and quality improvement, and actively engage in local, regional and national fora to support the development of these services. You will have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, able to maintain focus and purpose, and respect and value team working at all levels. We’re looking for someone who embraces co-production to help us achieve the best possible psychological services for service users, their families and staff.

Our inpatient mental health and urgent care services are currently engaged in significant transformation, in response to national guidance, providing a unique opportunity to ensure our inpatient mental health and urgent care settings deliver trauma informed care and evidence-based therapeutic services to the people who need them.  In this role you will be an essential member of the core team leading this transformation. You will lead on the programmes and processes that are psychological in nature and relate to all services in inpatient mental health and urgent care and will be accountable for overseeing the governance of psychological interventions and practice.

To be successful, you will already hold a Consultant Clinical Psychologist position. You will have considerable clinical experience and demonstrate highly specialist psychological knowledge in the field of inpatient mental health and/or urgent care services. You will be used to the fast pace of response in inpatient and urgent care settings. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the national, regional and local context around these services and understand the many points of intersection of these services within the Trust and within our system partnerships.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate strong professional leadership for Psychological Services, practice and Professions and provide highly specialist psychological advice across the Adult Mental Health Directorate, specifically Inpatient and Urgent Care Services and into the wider system.  

 

The post holder will be expected to provide support, guidance and represent the broad views of Psychological Services staff within the services and will need to achieve a level of visibility that enables these goals to be met.  

 

The post holder will play a leading role in the development and implementation of a clinical strategy for the Directorate and will play a leading role in the progression of the transformational change programme for the Directorate.

  • Doctoral level psychological services qualification or equivalent experience with HCPC registration
  • Extensive experience in a senior position
