Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated physiotherapist to join the Orthopaedic physiotherapy team as a band 6 rotational physiotherapist. The band 6 rotations are up to 12 months in length and across 3 clinical areas; trauma, elective, and prehab.
This is an ideal opportunity for an existing Band 6 physiotherapist who would like to broaden their experience by working into this speciality area or for a band 5 physiotherapist wishing to specialise in orthopaedics.

- 37 hours 30 minutes /week
- 1 twilight shift per week (elective / trauma rotation until 7:30pm currently)
- Bank holidays as part of a rota
- NOC respiratory rota

Main duties of the job
Role and responsibilities:
- Rotational areas covered are: Trauma, Elective, and prehabilitation (may include community visits).
- To be an active member of the appropriate multi-disciplinary team within the rotational area, providing specialist advice when needed
- Following a period of in-house assessment, induction and training (as appropriate), to be part of the emergency duty on-call and weekend rota.
- Good time management and the ability to work closely with the MDT.
- As there is a prehabilitation rotation the successful applicant will be required to have a driving licence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a complex patient group on Trauma/Elective Orthopaedics
- To rotate between Elective Orthopaedics/Rheumatology at the Freeman Hospital and Trauma Orthopaedics at RVI

KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient’s functional abilities.
- Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of undertaking research and audit projects
- Knowledge of current NHS issues e.g. NSF’s Improving Working Lives
SKILLS
Essential criteria
- Organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to personal and service development
- Ability to present information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner
Desirable criteria
- IT Skills
- Presentation Skills
- Specialist treatment skills e.g. manual therapy
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- NHS experience as a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy including orthopaedics
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in a Sen II rotational scheme
- Experience of working with patients with physical health problems e.g. stroke, mobility problems
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
- Member of Chartered Society Of Physiotherapists
- Involvement in relevant CSP Clinical Special Interest groups

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
