An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Senior Waiting List Co-ordinator within the Family Health Board.  If you are enthusiastic, organised and well-motivated we want you to join our newly established waiting list team. 

This is an ideal opportunity to showcase your skills in supporting Children's Services to achieve full theatre utilisation and excellent waiting list maintenance to provide a quality patient experience.  This position requires excellent organisational and communication skills to ensure our 18 Week Waiting times are met.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience of working in a fast-paced environment to ensure robust and timely management of Waiting Lists for multiple specialities within Children’s Services.   You will work alongside a range of Consultants and Admin teams, therefore it is essential that you have the ability to build relationships and maintain a professional approach. 

If you have a pro-active approach, are a problem solver and your passion is support and put the patient’s needs at the forefront, then this is the ideal role for you.

If successful, you will be responsible for co-ordinate waiting lists in an efficient manner by liaising with consultants and other Admin teams to ensure waiting lists are accurate, well utilised and maintained to standard in line with the Trust’s waiting times and the Trust’s Patient Access Policy.

You should be self-motivated, reliable and well organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of waiting lists and be able to work efficiently and methodically with good attention to detail without direct supervision. The post holder should be flexible to the needs of the service with a positive and proactive attitude.

The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills, be able to prioritise workload effectively with excellent attention to detail. The role is fast paced and you must be able to deal with sensitive and contentious information.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

  • The post holder is expected to understand and apply the Patient Access Policy to their everyday activity, ensuring that patients are managed fairly and contributing to the ability of the Trust to maintain waiting time targets.
  • The Waiting List Office administrative service will contribute towards a systematic approach to delivering the NHS Plan commitments for access to elective and day case surgery, specifically the drive to guarantee maximum waiting times and introduce Patient Choice through booking systems. The sensitivity around clinical and management priorities will require the post holder to work with and have the confidence of Consultants and Clinical Boards. Communication with patients will be proactive, inviting discussion and consultation around their preferences and availability. Patient focus and Customer Care will be a fundamental element of the service, delivered via written, telephone and face to face contact. Patient confidentiality must be observed at all times.
  • The post holder is the Supervisor to the Waiting List Office Team. It carries specific responsibilities for ensuring the systems and procedures used by the team are operating effectively and within the context of the Trust’s policies and priorities. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring that patients at risk of breaching
    are managed under the supervision of the Admissions/Waiting List Manager.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
