Job overview
Due to internal promotion and to cover a secondment, we have a vacancy for a full-time (37.5hrs) Ward Administrator for an older persons ward within In-Patients based at St Georges Hospital, Morpeth.
Working days are Monday to Friday inclusive. The post holder will have previous admin experience due to the demands of the role; experience of working in a similar environment would be an advantage.
A good knowledge of Microsoft packages and typing qualifications or evidence of relevant experience is essential for the role.
Key skills required:
- Admin or secretarial experience working within a team
- Experience in a customer/patient focused environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A good understanding of the clinical database "RIO" system (not essential as training will be given)
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Word/Office packages and typing qualification or relevant experience
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to be self-directed, motivated and be able to contribute positively within a team
- Well organised and structured
- Be able to demonstrate flexibility in the role
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide full admin support to a high-activity older persons ward, with specific duties relating to patient information and care pathways.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with possible exposure to highly distressing or highly emotional circumstances and will be expected to ensure they participate on all relevant training courses appropriate to the role.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Word-processing skills at Level 3 (OCR/RSA Level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or demonstrable relevant experience) eg; NVQ Level 3 Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent)
- Good level of education to O-level/GCSE or equivalent in English Language
- Audio Typing qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
